Children need safety to express their feelings without words. Using creative therapies they are able to do this. Then during child therapy find support to find a way through.
Sometimes a child might be the subject of bullying - but it could be by a friend. This results in confusion, self doubt and so on. However, working in the studio with gentle creative therapies they are able to safely express how they really feel.
This leads to a time where they will explore what their options are, how to ask for help and support, perhaps even gain empathy and understanding for another person but putting and keeping personal boundaries in place. The possibilities are endless. But they are always in a safe and supportive space, where their needs come first.
Another example is a child who has experienced grief. They may have lost a loved one close to them, or a pet. They may not have had a chance to say goodbye and have all kinds of conflicting emotions. Working with objects and symbols meaningful to them helps them to make sense, grieve and honour their loved one.
